Prices on this page are read from our billing table on every request (October 19, 2026). They are the prices your API key is charged, not estimates.
Google's Nano Banana line now has four image models you can call through one API: Nano Banana Pro, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana 2.1 and Nano Banana 2 Lite. All of them bill per image, and the price depends on the output resolution you ask for, so the useful question is not "which is cheapest" but "which is cheapest at the size I need". Below is the price of one image at 1K, 2K and 4K, the request limits that differ between the models, and working request bodies.
Price per image by resolution
| Model | 1K | 2K | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nano Banana 2 Lite | $0.028 | — | — |
| Nano Banana 2.1 | $0.028 | $0.042 | $0.063 |
| Nano Banana 2 | $0.056 | $0.084 | $0.126 |
| Nano Banana Pro | $0.126 | $0.126 | $0.168 |
A dash means that size is not sold for that model. Resolution is part of the model id: you call the 4K id to get a 4K image, and a request whose resolution does not match the id is rejected with variant_mismatch before anything is charged. Nano Banana Pro sells 1K and 2K as one id at one price, so with Pro there is no reason to ask for 1K.
The older single-size models are still on sale: Nano Banana (first version), text to image $0.028, Nano Banana Edit, image to image $0.028 per image. They take no resolution field.
The short answer
- Cheapest image: Nano Banana 2 Lite at 1K, $0.028. A $10 top-up covers 357 of them.
- Cheapest at 2K: Nano Banana 2.1, $0.042 per image.
- Cheapest at 4K: Nano Banana 2.1, $0.063 per image.
- Pro vs 2 at 4K: $0.168 vs $0.126, Pro costs 1.33x as much.
- 2.1 vs 2: Nano Banana 2.1 is the cheaper of the two at every size we sell (1K $0.028 vs $0.056, 2K $0.042 vs $0.084, 4K $0.063 vs $0.126).
Nano Banana Pro vs Nano Banana 2: what the request accepts
Price is one half of the choice. The other half is what each model lets you send. These limits come from the model specifications and apply to the input object of your request.
| Model | Reference images | Aspect ratios | Resolution | Output format |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano Banana 2 Lite | up to 10 in image_urls | 15, incl. auto, 1:4, 4:1, 1:8, 8:1 | 1K only (no resolution field) | — |
| Nano Banana 2.1 | up to 10 in image_input | 15, incl. auto, 1:4, 4:1, 1:8, 8:1 | 1K, 2K, 4K (default 1K) | png or jpg (default jpg) |
| Nano Banana 2 | up to 10 in image_input | 15, incl. auto, 1:4, 4:1, 1:8, 8:1 | 1K, 2K, 4K (default 1K) | png or jpg (default jpg) |
| Nano Banana Pro | up to 8 in image_input | 11, incl. auto | 1K, 2K, 4K (default 1K) | png or jpg |
In practice: Nano Banana 2 and 2.1 take more reference images (10 against 8) and the tall and wide banner shapes Pro does not offer. Pro defaults to a square 1:1 frame when you leave aspect_ratio out, Nano Banana 2 and 2.1 default to auto. Nano Banana 2 Lite renders at 1K only, needs aspect_ratio in every request and names its reference field image_urls. Prompts can be up to 20,000 characters on all four.
Which one looks better for your prompts is a test, not a table. Run the same prompt through Pro and Nano Banana 2 in the playground before you commit to one, and read the Nano Banana prompt guide for prompt patterns that hold up on both.

Code: switching models is one field
Same key and endpoint for every model. Change model and the matching resolution; the response is a taskId you poll, or pass callBackUrl to have the result sent to you.
